Adopting dogs from Dog School
Thinking about adopting a new best friend? Here's some important info to know about the process. In the end you'll sign an adoption contract and all of our policies will be explained in detail, but these are the main things to remember:
Please do not contact any of the daycare locations about adoptable dogs- they likely will not have the information you're looking for. If you have questions you can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you’re interested in adopting a dog, we require a 4-6 day trial period during which they’ll stay at your house. If all goes well you’ll sign the adoption paperwork at the end of the trial period, and if things don’t work out you can simply let us know and return the pooch to its foster parent.
Before your trial period with an adoptable dog, the dog’s foster parent will ensure they are going to a safe environment by performing a home visit and contacting the references you provided on the adoption application.
We require that all of the dogs adopted through us be kept up to date on core vaccinations throughout their life. If you adopt a dog has not yet received vaccinations during its stay in our foster program, you’ll need to bring them to a licensed veterinarian within 30 days of adoption for a general physical examination and any necessary vaccinations.
All dogs adopted through us are required to be spayed or neutered within 30 days of adoption if they have not been previously altered. For female dogs for whom we are unable to determine their alteration status, you’ll be required to have your veterinarian determine whether or not they have been spayed.
If you are ever in a situation where you plan on surrendering or transferring ownership of the dog, you must return it to Dog School or obtain our written permission to transfer ownership to someone else.
